Nigeria have earned their place in the semifinals of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and South Africa has been eliminated. Mark Williams, the South African captain and former Bafana Bafana star, struck with four goals. It was six-all at the end of the first three sessions.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter wants Brazil to prove it could host the 2014 World Cup. Brazil is considered the favorite to host soccer’s showpiece under FIFA’s informal policy of continental rotation. With South Africa hosting the event in 2010, South America is in line for 2014, although the decision won’t be made for two years.
