World Cup could boost MLS’ stature (The Columbus Dispatch)
There was no mistaking the enthusiasm in the voice of Major League Soccer spokesman Dan Courtemanche this week as he ticked off the list of major magazines that have run or will run pieces on American soccer this World Cup year.

We can only hope it s not as painful as it sounds. As if a summer of football due to the World Cup wasn t enough Sky have gone one step further by bringing celebrity football to our screens. However if Cantona is involved it may be worth giving it a few minutes time.

R240m for World Cup to be split today (Cape Argus)
The 2010 World Cup local organising committee will decide today how to divide R240 million in government funding for the planning phase of the prestigious soccer tournament among nine host cities, including Cape Town.
